Several simultaneous techniques were used, among others the traditional Venetian Incalmo technique. During the preparations for the three exhibitions in Italy, Markku Piri was inspired by the great art tradition of Italy. The Bowl of Plenty with its lush and elaborate decor is the tribute of a Nordic artist to the rich glass tradition of Venice.
The bowls were made by the joint efforts of four Glass Blowers at the Lasismi Co-Operative in Finland, and it demanded expert skills and choreographic collaboration by everyone involved. The version in black, white and a silvery blue is a classic. The other version has a touch of gold in the noble colour of amber. The details are as important as the whole shape of the objects.
