This series has its origin in Florence, from the architecture and the interior of the first exhibition of Markku Piri in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, among others from the Michelangelesque staircase in the Palazzo. Here, the artist wanted to create respectfully, but also with a little smile, objects which are timelessly archaic in their forms, and lush in their decor. The ancient glass tradition and the artistic ideas of the present times greet each other in a grand manner.

This is an elegant, timeless bottle that seems to defy the law of gravity. The original inspiration for the Archaic series was the spiral staircase, hand cut in stone, that Markku Piri saw at Florence’s Palazzo Medici Riccardi’s Sale Fabiani, where the first exhibition of the Italian exhibition tour took place. During the 3.5 years of preparation time for the exhibition tour, Italy was preparing (and influencing) the artist on this Art Glass Object.
