This series has its origin in Florence, from the architecture and the interior of the first exhibition of Markku Piri in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, among others from the Michelangelesque staircase in the Palazzo. Here, the artist wanted to create respectfully, but also with a little smile, objects which are timelessly archaic in their forms, and lush in their decor. The ancient glass tradition and the artistic ideas of the present times greet each other in a grand manner.

Markku Piri is very proud of this bottle, the gradual subtle change of colours, the slightly irregular shape, the frosted surface, and the carefully executed cuts in the glass that shape the decoration that spirals gently around the bottle. The work feels both modern, and a reflection of 2000 years back into ancient Rome.
