Matteo Tagliapietra, son of a Murano glass master, was born on 16 November 1973. At the age of 16, he began to work as a helper and a pupil of Mario Gambaro, owner and glassmaster at Gambaro & Poggi. At 21, he became the master of the studio. He works with various techniques from massiccio to blown glass, creating typical Murano glass style productions, but also projects commissioned by artists and designers. In 2015, after the retirement of the master Mario Gambaro, Matteo Tagliapietra and Mario’s heirs founded the Gambaro & Tagliapietra Srl murano glass studio.
The Gambaro & Tagliapietra Srl glass studio was born of a historic Murano glass furnace, Vetreria Artistica Gambaro & Poggi, which was famous for its refined products and new styles and shapes. After the retirement of the old master Gambaro, the furnace continued as Gambaro & Tagliapietra Srl Murano Glass Studio, still cherishing the same spirit of innovation. Gambaro & Tagliapietra Srl is a member of Consorzio Promovetro, which gathers together the leading artisan companies. It is also a licensee of the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark (code number 022).
